Region X: Northern Mindanao

Northern Mindanao is designated as Region X and is one of the regions in the Philippines located in the northern part of the island of Mindanao. It is composed of five provinces: Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental. The region is known for its diverse culture, stunning natural landscapes, and rich agricultural resources.

The region’s economy thrives on agriculture, with vast plantations of pineapples, sugarcane, and rice. Additionally, Northern Mindanao is recognized for its bustling trade and commerce, particularly in Cagayan de Oro City, the regional center and major urban hub.

One of the region’s notable attractions is the Maria Cristina Falls, a majestic waterfall located in Iligan City. Another popular destination is the scenic White Island in Camiguin, offering pristine white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, perfect for snorkeling and swimming.

Northern Mindanao is also celebrated for its vibrant festivals such as the Kaamulan Festival in Bukidnon, showcasing the indigenous culture of the region, and the Lanzones Festival in Camiguin, which honors the bountiful harvest of lanzones fruit.

With its blend of natural wonders, cultural heritage, and economic vitality, Northern Mindanao continues to captivate both local and international visitors, offering a truly enriching experience.
