Start Here: How to Use TuristaSaPilipinas

Welcome to TuristaSaPilipinas.

If you’re new to the site, you may notice something a little different. TuristasAPilipinas didn’t begin as a traditional travel blog. It started as a way for me to learn more about the Philippines and to share what I discovered along the way.

Over the years, what started as a small collection of articles grew into hundreds of posts covering regions, provinces, cities, islands, food, wildlife, culture, travel planning, and destinations across the country.

As the site expanded, I realized it was becoming more than a blog. It was evolving into a resource for anyone wanting to learn about, visit, or explore the Philippines.

How the Site Is Organized

I generally organize information using the same geographic structure used throughout the Philippines:

Region → Province → City/Municipality → Island

This allows readers to start broad and work their way deeper into a destination.

For example:

CALABARZON
→ Quezon Province
→ Lucena City
→ Polillo Island
→ Related travel guides and destination articles

This structure helps create context and makes it easier to understand how places connect to each other.

Three Ways to Explore the Site

Learn About the Philippines

If you’re interested in geography, culture, food, history, wildlife, or simply learning more about the country, start with the regional, provincial, city, and island guides.

These articles explain:

  • Where places are located
  • Population and demographics
  • Geography and landscapes
  • History and culture
  • Important landmarks
  • Local traditions
  • Wildlife and nature

Think of these as the site’s foundation.

Why Visit the Philippines?

The Philippines is much more than a collection of beautiful beaches and vacation photos. It is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands, shaped by centuries of history, diverse cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and some of the most welcoming people you’ll ever meet.

Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, history, food, wildlife, or simply a place to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life, there’s a destination here for you.

You might find yourself:

  • Walking among the ancient Rice Terraces of Ifugao
  • Exploring the limestone lagoons of Coron and El Nido
  • Relaxing on the white-sand beaches of Boracay or Panglao
  • Surfing the waves of Siargao and La Union
  • Diving alongside sea turtles and vibrant coral reefs
  • Visiting historic cities connected to José Rizal and Philippine history
  • Watching whale sharks, sardine runs, and incredible marine life
  • Discovering local foods, festivals, and traditions that vary from region to region
  • Driving scenic coastal roads and exploring lesser-known islands and provinces

One thing I’ve learned while building this site is that every province, city, and island has its own story to tell. Some destinations are world-famous. Others are places most travelers have never heard of. Both can be equally rewarding.

That’s one of the reasons I created TuristasAPilipinas the way I did.

Rather than focusing only on major tourist destinations, I wanted to help readers understand the Philippines as a whole. Sometimes the best travel experiences happen in places that don’t make the typical “Top 10” list.

If all you’re looking for is a beach vacation, you’ll find plenty of suggestions here. But if you’re curious about the history, culture, geography, wildlife, food, and people behind those destinations, you’ll find that too.

My goal is simple:

Help you discover what the Philippines is, why it’s worth visiting, and how to make the most of your journey.

Choose Where to Visit

If you’re planning a vacation, start with the travel guides, destination guides, road trips, island collections, and Top-X lists.

These articles help answer questions such as:

  • Where should I go?
  • What are the top attractions?
  • Which islands have the best beaches?
  • What destinations are family-friendly?
  • Which locations are best for diving, surfing, or nature?

Examples include destination guides for places such as Boracay, Coron, El Nido, Bohol, and many others.

Plan Your Trip

Once you’ve decided where to go, visit the travel-planning section.

These articles cover topics such as:

  • Transportation
  • Budget travel
  • Packing lists
  • Cost of living
  • Solo travel
  • Safety and health tips
  • Sample itineraries

The goal is to help visitors turn ideas into actual travel plans.

Why So Much Information?

One of the things I’ve always believed is that travelers make better decisions when they understand the destination.

When I first started writing, I focused heavily on regions, provinces, cities, and islands. I wanted readers to know where a place was, how large it was, why it mattered, and what made it unique.

Today, you’ll find more travel guides, destination recommendations, resorts, beaches, and itineraries throughout the site. But I still believe a destination becomes much more meaningful when you understand its history, culture, people, and geography.

That’s why you’ll often find a mix of information, history, and travel advice within the same article.

Why the Name TuristaSaPilipinas?

When I started this website, I wanted a name that reflected what the site was really about: discovering and exploring the Philippines as a traveler.

The name TuristasSaPilipinas was suggested by my wife, who speaks Tagalog. Over time, it became the perfect fit for what the site has grown into.

What started as a simple project to learn more about the Philippines gradually expanded into guides covering regions, provinces, cities, islands, food, wildlife, culture, travel planning, and destinations across the country.

Today, TuristasAPilipinas is my way of sharing that journey with others. Whether you’re researching a province, planning a vacation, learning about Filipino culture, or simply looking for your next adventure, I hope you’ll find something useful here.
