Millenium Tree, Maria Aurora

Pictures By My Family or Myself

Welcome back to the last part of our Aurora series. On our way back to Bulacan, we stopped off in Maria Aurora to see the famous “Millenium Tree”, the oldest and biggest Balete tree in Asia. It was off the beaten track but well worth the side trip.

Situated in the flats and the beginning of the Sierra Madre Mountains; Maria Aurora is the only landlocked municipality in Aurora and also has its highest population. We were lucky to travel through as they are celebrating their 75th year a municipality.

As per a normal day in the Philippines as we travelled back from Dinalungan and Bulawan Falls, it was a beautiful day, until we pulled into the park. At that point the sky opened up with a full tilted storm. It rained so hard that you had to run to see the tree.

It was an amazing site to behold when you find out this is all one tree. It is also fun to note that a 6’1″ Kano (Americano) doesn’t fit inside the tree, my family did of course. We spent about 45 minutes there and after we left within 5 minutes the rains stopped.

A drop of water on my lens, but I had to get the shot.
Just a fun shop along the road

As we headed home, we enjoyed another drive through the Sierra Madre Mountains and on to Bulacan. Be with us soon as we explore a mini basilica in Pangasinan.
