
Welcome to the component city of Cabadbaran, the “City of Golden Hearts”. It is also the de Jure provincial capital of Agusan del Norte, in the Caraga region on the northeastern coast of Mindanao.

A Brief History
Founded in 1894 during the Spanish colonial era, Cabadbaran—originally named Tolosa—later reclaimed its original name and flourished under both Spanish and American influences. After more than a decade of legal processes, the town was officially declared a city in 2011
Geography & Climate
Located about 29 km east of Butuan City, Cabadbaran stretches from coastal plains to towering peaks like Mount Hilong‑HIlong (2,012 m), the highest in the Caraga region. The city is flanked by the Cabadbaran River and bordered by the Cabadbaran‑Santiago Watershed Forest Reserve, a vital ecological area created in 1991. The climate features warm temperatures year-round with heavy rainfall especially between June and November.

- From Butuan City (airport code BXU): 30–45 minute bus or van ride along the Pan-Philippine.
- By land: Buses from Davao, Cagayan de Oro, or Surigao with potential stops at Nasipit Port plus onward transpo.

Agriculture remains the backbone of the economy—rice paddies stretch across the plains while abacá and coconut plantations feed local trade.
